자라는 섬
제5회 글로벌청년창의레지던시(GYCR)는 ‘내려진 뿌리, 자라는 섬’을 주제로 전세계 곳곳 다양한 영역에서 창의적 활동을 이어오고 있는 예술가, 건축가, 디자이너, 공예가, 기획자, 평론가 및 다영역의 젊은 문화예술 전문가들이 제주에 모여 예술(Art)과 지속가능성(Sustainability)을 이야기하고 창의적 역량을 펼쳐 보이는 국제 교류 아트 프로젝트입니다.
GYCR의 아트웍을 개발 하며 동시에 '환경과 지속가능성의 메시지를 담는 디자인' <GD>, <PSY> 앨범과 <플리츠마마>, <유네스코 icdh>브랜딩 작업을 예시로 주제로 강의(lecture)를 진행했습니다.
The 5th Global Youth Creativity Residency (GYCR), themed "Rooted Grounds, Growing Island," is an international art project held in Jeju, bringing together emerging creatives from around the world. As part of the program, I developed artwork for GYCR and delivered a lecture on designing with environmental and sustainability values, referencing projects such as the <GD> and <PSY> albums, <Pleatsmama>, and <UNESCO ICDH> branding.

Design Concept:
나무의 뿌리는 가지와 형태적 유사성 가지고 있으며, 가지는 태양을 향해 상승하고 뿌리는 중력의 영향을 받아 흙을 헤치고 내려가려 노력합니다. 섬, 제주, 나무, 뿌리를 하나의 아트웍으로 표현하며 뿌리로 예상되는 나무의 하단에 가지를 배치하여 제주의 특수한 자연환경과 생태, 문화적 배경을 파악하고 이를 범지구적 이슈로 확장시켜 예술과 창작을 통한 지속가능성의 실천 방안을 모색하고자 하는 프로그램의 취지와, 창의적 사고를 흥미롭게 느끼도록 했습니다.
The roots of a tree bear a structural resemblance to its branches; branches rise towards the sun, while roots exert effort to dig through the soil against gravity. Representing the island, Jeju, as well as trees and roots, the design places branches at the bottom of the expected tree roots, symbolizing the unique natural environment, ecology, and cultural background of Jeju. The program aims to understand and expand these aspects into global issues, seeking practical approaches to sustainability through art and creativity. The concept is designed to make the exploration of sustainability and creative thinking engaging and captivating.
