명승호텔 : 더 그랜드 리오프닝

제주 최초의 관광호텔 ‘명승호텔’에서 열리는 이번 전시는, 오랜 시간 비워져 있던 공간을 문화예술의 장으로 열어냅니다. 관광 산업의 상징이었던 장소에 제주의 자연신들을 다시 초대하며 연회의 형식으로 새로운 환대의 이야기를 펼칩니다. 개발과 공존 사이에서 변화해온 제주의 시선을 돌아보며 오래된 삶의 태도를 섬세하게 비춥니다.

Design concept

^{디자인은 “자연에는 직선이 존재하지 않는다”는 개념에서 출발해 자연의 곡선과 서양식 건축의 조형미가 만나는 지점을 시각적으로 탐색합니다. 인간의 욕망으로부터 밀려난 신과 자연을 다시 환대하기 위해 직선과 곡선을 매개로 한 유기적인 시각 언어를 구축하고자 했습니다.

The design starts from the concept that “there are no straight lines in nature,” and visually explores the point where the curves of nature and the sculptural beauty of Western architecture meet. In order to welcome back the gods and nature that have been pushed out by human desire, we sought to build an organic visual language using straight lines and curves as a medium.}
